I saw an ad on facebook for a 1989 C1500 Extended Cab. They were asking $2500....

It was about 40 miles away so I decided to take a look. It was PINK!! Well actually it appeared they were thinking of painting it and had been using the red/pink primer.
I was amazed that the interior only had this one bit of damage. Typical of trucks.
The seats were great and there were no cracks in the dash. I was really liking it, but it was pink!! I talked with them and started trying to get them to come down on price. But not much so I went home. I waited a week and had talked with TJ to help me out a bit. I sold my Carnival Stock, it was frustrating but I should not complain, I doubled my investment from when I had bought it. Then over phone they started talking a deal. So finally we agreed on $2000 and I had my buddy drive me down there so I could buy it. I was surprised, but the truck ran well and had almost 300,000 miles. It did pull to the right a bit.

I took it to get aligned but they said the tie rods and such on right side were shot. So I took it home and got under it and replaced everything on both sides. Then took it back and it aligned but the tires on front bad and still have a bit of pull to right. But I was on a budget and it was just a project, so I bought two used tires for the front and it was a little better. I had a flat on back tire going to Jacksonville one day so I stopped at the used tire shop and he found a pair of 31" x 15" to fit it. It is hard to find tires for old 15" sizes, every thing going to bigger sizes. So I put those on the back.

I was also surprised that the body was not rusted out or having issues. I have not found anything wrong with body. But then the exhaust was a different story. I could not hear myself think. The pipe between converter and muffler was rusted completely on bottom. So with great dificulty, neighbors help and just determined it was going to work, I got it pipe and muffler replaced.

I also liked it had a toolbox on it. Again, this was to be a project truck, not my daily driver!! But after wrecking the Jag, the C1500 was it!! The heater did not work, the AC did not work. Well I fixed the heater with new heater core and neighbor to help me get it in under the dash. My son took pitty on me and offered to pay for the AC to get fixed. So it is all working good now. Thanks TJ!!
I was thinking from the start, I was going to paint it. I can do that I did my Blazer myself and it turned out pretty good, even if I do say so myself. But I wanted a little custom look since I had 31" tires on back and regular stock tires in front, so I bought it some fender flares. I put the back ones on and it was a few months before I got the front ones on. In the mean time as daily driver, I was using it more and I noticed one of the used front tires throwing the tread off. So I bought a pair of NEW tires for the front.
Did I mention that they had apparently had a pretty bad drivers door, since that door had been replaced. Had a little trouble with lock till I used some WD40 on it and the window needs help going up and down. I tried to replace the window regulator and motor, but I could not get the window loose. So just put it all back together and just live withit.
Finally I get around to getting all the flares on fenders installed (see previous 2 photos) and decals on back window.
