GMC 2007 Sierra 2500HD

I decided I wanted to travel a bit on a budget, so I thought I would get a pickup and put a campershell on it and setup for camping. I got a great deal on this truck. Such a good deal, that the dealer called and asked if I would sell to another guy that came in and wanted to give me $1000 over what I paid for it a couples hours prior.

So I bought a camper shell... I had no idea how expensive they have gotten, but found a good used one. It was the only one I found that was in good enough condition to use. I looked at new ones and that ws not happening. This one came off a truck that was used for fire extinguisher service. Really messy inside ceiling. So my first stop wash the car wash and using the wand and hot water and the soap setting until I got it clean. Then I got busy and made a bed for one side and cabinets for the other side. Bought some carpet and put it all in. I had to replace the screens in the window slides on camper.

Then I bought a tent that is designed to attach to the back of the SUV and gives you a 10x10 tent extension to my camping. I sets up quick and easy.. It also has a bonus room that I can zip on if I want to.

This is the view from inside the tent looking into the truck. I put down the tailgate to use for a table. Then I have a piece of carpet for the floor of the tent and a chair. I alo have another small folding table I setup on one side inside the tent.

When I was looking for a campershell, I did not find one the same color as truck, but I was not paying $1200 or more for one with color matched to my truck... Now that I have it, I like the camper being a different color, silver is a cooler color in the sun and it makes it easy to find in a parking lot.

You can click on the photo and see how I built the bed and drawers for under the bed to hold clothes and stuff. Also the cabinet for holding my supplies. Then a picture of the rig setup for camping.
